Procedure for Entrance into the 6th gradeParents, another great resource while you are waiting for your open house is the Community Education Council for District 2's website. They have filmed our middle school for an online tour with great results. Please visit their website at www.cecd2.net click on District Resources, and then click on Middle School Tours. They have done an excellent job at capturing the essence of SOF. Step 1: Tours and Open House:Please read carefully: If you are a parent in the following District 2 schools a tour of SOF has been arranged and you need to check with your parent, admissions coordinator or guidance counselor. The following schools are: PS40, PS41, PS116, PS6, PS290 MNS,PS33, PS183, PS158, PS59 and PS11. Our space is limited and our man power short. If you are a parent in any of these schoolsplease contact them. Thank You.All other: Please email sof.middleschool@gmail.com to confirm an open house. Due to personnel constraints we cannot take requests over the phone. Step 2: Apply to School of the FutureDistrict 2 - Fifth Graders. List School of the Future on your Middle School Application that you get from your Elementary School teacher or Guidance Counselor. We will review applications according to the preference levels - i.e., applicants who list us first choice will be prioritized.Out-of-District 5th Graders: Contact Jimmy Bueschen, Choice Coordinator Manhattan at the district office 333 7th avenue 12th floor. Step 3: COME FOR AN INTERVIEWOnce we have received the Middle School applications from the district, we will contact families for an interview (at SOF on a Thursday afternoon in February. Again, SOF is in high demand and we only interview students who list us as their top 3 choices. Over-the-counter applicants will only be contacted for an interview if a seat opens up in the appropriate grade at a later time and have filed a placement exemption request with the District 2 office.In addition, when you come for the interview we ask that you bring a portfolio of work that must include the following:

Step One: Come to an Open HouseBack by popular demand SOFHS will be offering tours this admissions season. Please note the following tours have limited capacity and will be booked in date and time order by me. The tour dates are - November 1 @ 9AM and 10:45AM, November 15 @ 9AM and 10:45AM, November 22 @ 9AM and 10:45am and November 29th @ 9AM and 10:45AM. Please create a new email.Each open house has limited space, it is on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis. Due to personnel constraints we cannot take requests over the phone Step 2: Apply to School of the FutureEighth Graders: List School of the Future on your High School Application which you get from your Guidance Counselor or Coordinator for High School Admissions. Note that SOF has been in high demand and as such, you should consider carefully where to rank us on your list of 12. Although SOF is a screened program, we are still part of the Department of Education's new matching process.Students have to fill out the SOF "Interview Request form" in order to be eligible for one of our interview sessions. Please email me at mmartin-scully@schools.nyc.govfor the interview request form, I will email it to you as an attachment. The form must be returned by Monday, November 29th, 2010. Interview request form, once completed must be emailed to Marguerite Martin-Scully at sof.interview@gmail.com. Step 3: COME FOR AN INTERVIEWAll students who email an "Interview Request Form" will be contacted via email with an appointment date.In addition, once the interview date is set we ask that students bring in the following items on their interview date:

For entrance into other grades
All requests for admissions for grades 7 & 8 and 10,11,12 must go to the Office of Student Enrollment and Placement and apply directly with them at 333 Seventh Avenue 12th floor or you can go to www.schools.nyc.gov for further information.
