Our HS Robotics team, SOF RC, participated in the First Tech Challenge event qualifier at Manhattan Center HS on Sunday, November 19.

This was a great opportunity for our team to test our robot and practice the challenges on a real field and for our students to collaborate with other schools and students. ( Image: Our students describing the robot design process to the judges).

We ended up on the 13th place out of 25 teams and were nominated for getting an ‘Innovation’ award for our robot design and strong team collaboration skills.

Even though we’re still a beginner team in our 2nd year, our students gained the necessary confidence and skills to approach challenges at the competition level. We were able to assist a couple of other teams to troubleshoot their Java programming code, one of them part of the consortium schools.

Our next event will be at John Dewey in Brooklyn on Dec 10th, join us for the next Qualifier.
