Sophia, film industry internship

This internship was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I feel like I got the unedited truth about the film industry. I interacted not only with our mentor, who is a producer, but also with so many other professionals. One day we talked to an actor, the next day we spoke with the makeup artist, and then we visited a studio. It was breathtaking in nature. If I could do it all over again, I would! 

Val, Print3D internship

The SOF internship program allowed me to get a sense of what managing my own hours and time would be like later in life, and it gave me a good idea of how slotting a job into my educational schedule would be while I’m at college. Additionally, it was a great option to gain job experience while earning class credit, and I highly recommend it to anyone who can fit it in. It was easy to work with SOF staff and my internship to figure out times that worked for me and that would satisfy the requirements.

Kira, Bronx House intern

I worked at a community center called Bronx House, helping kids and adults learn to swim. I was able to use my knowledge as a lifeguard to help make the facility fun and safe, and I acquired life lessons and skills. Teaching kids how to swim, and seeing them grow as people and swimmers, is something that is very important to me.

Leila, Restorative Justice/in-house internship

RJ was a wonderful way to participate in making School of the Future a safer place for its students. It put me in touch with the values that our school holds so that I could help others uphold them. I helped the school become more inclusive, and I also learned the importance of having conversations about wrongful doings before they occur, instead of simply being punished afterward.
