Parent Association

Welcome to School of the Future’s Parents Association! As a parent or guardian of an SOF student, you are automatically a member of the PA. We encourage you to get involved so that you can get closer to what is happening at SOF and meet others—administrators, teachers, parents—who are working hard to make this school the best it can be for all of its students.

Being part of our Parents Association is a way to stay engaged in your child’s life at a time when they may not think they want it but still very much need it.

Monthly Meetings, Events, Committees

SOF PA events are opportunities to get to know our staff and families and have some fun as we make great things happen. We thrive on your ideas and enthusiasm, so please get involved. Monthly meetings are usually on the first Tuesday of the month in Zoom (we confirm and send the link via email ahead of each meeting), and you can join a committee or volunteer to help out at an event.

Fundraising

The Parents Association works with School of the Future administrators to determine priorities and raise funds to bring about events that build a sense of community for all of its students. In past years, the PA has funded theater productions, school trips, SAT/ACT prep, graduation ceremonies, sports teams, and prom and teacher wishlists.

Donate

Our SOF Student Fund is one of our most important fundraising initiatives of the year, with every dollar directed at enriching the lives of our students—music program, school plays, SoulFest rooftop event, tutoring, SAT/ACT prep, field trips, and more.

We are grateful for one-time and ongoing/installment donations, which can be made online. SOF PA is a 501©(3) organization, and your donations are tax deductible. Also, many employers match contributions, thereby doubling your generosity.

Grade Council

Every grade at SOF has 1-2 PA Representatives who participate in PA activities, help flow information to their grade’s families, and encourage family participation. If you would like to be a representative, contact [email protected]. Grade representatives are appointed in the fall.

PA Executive Board

The Executive Board is responsible for the governance and management of the PA. It works to build diverse community engagement and to fundraise for student-centered priorities. The Executive Board members—president, treasurer, recording secretary—are elected in June to serve for one year (starting July 1). Feel free to contact them at [email protected] to share your ideas and be part of the PA.
